Choosing FAQs
Which mixer should I choose — V-type, 3D, 2D or ribbon?
Use a V-type or 3D mixer for fast, gentle, segregation-free blending of free-flowing powders (3D suits precise or high-value blends). Choose a 2D mixer for large volumes, and a ribbon mixer for viscous or cohesive materials or when blending liquids into powder.
What is the difference between fluid-bed and vacuum drying?
A fluid-bed dryer suspends powder or granules in hot air for fast batch drying — 10–20× quicker than an oven. A vacuum dryer works at low temperature under vacuum, which protects heat-sensitive materials and allows solvent recovery, but is slower.
High-shear or rotary granulation — which is right?
High-shear (wet) granulation produces dense, uniform, near-spherical granules and completes mixing and granulation in one closed vessel — ideal for pharmaceutical dosing. Rotary granulation sizes a wet mass through a screen and can also crush dry blocks, suited to simpler sizing tasks.
